Very rare calendar De Schutter, 2001, in new condition with original packaging, measuring 35 × 52 cm.
Description from the seller
Calendar published by De Schutter, for the benefit of Moulinsart's contacts, 2001.
The calendar offered here is very rare. It was made by the printing house De Schutter from Antwerp. This company was a royal supplier for Moulinsart. Reproductions were made there that had to meet the highest quality standards. Much of Hergé's original work was brought to De Schutter for copying, so these beautiful copies could often be displayed at exhibitions.
This calendar was made at the end of 2001 for clients of De Schutter and contacts of Moulinsart.
What we see are so-called 'bleus'.
Explanation about the bruises
These are printing sheets on which the black line drawing is missing, while the color fields (the 'blues') are indeed printed. As a result, the image appears blurry and grainy, with visible raster (halftones). This type of sheet thus only shows the color separations (CMYK) without the key plate (the black lines).
Such color tests are called 'bleus' in the field, despite the fact that the word historically refers to blueprints.
The tests were used to:
to check if the color patches were in the correct position (registration)
to see if shadows/transitions came out well
to test before the black lines were added.
We do not know the print run of the calendar, but it is probably very small.
Format: 35 * 52 cm.
Packaging: the calendar is still in its original packaging — never been out!
Condition: absolute mint condition.
