Sea Snail Sea shell - M-994 CHARONIA VARIEGATA

The beautiful shell of Charonia variegata, also known as the Atlantic trumpet snail, is a species of predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Charoniidae, the triton snails, triton shells, or tritons. This conical shell has an elongated, sharply pointed spire without any projections. The lower whorls are unevenly swollen with a varicocele and a bulge above the suture. The suture then descends in an uneven spiral. The parietal callus is lined with a narrow, dark inner lip, covered with regularly spaced, brown, ribbed folds. The outer lip is serrated, but less prominent, and serrated, with about 10 pairs of ribbed teeth superimposed on square, dark brown spots. The shell color is mottled in shades ranging from creamy white to yellow with brown markings. The inside of the large opening is orange-pink, and the inside is white. Dimensions - 95/125/230mm. Highly recommended for collectors and interior decorators.
