AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The beautiful shell Melo ampfhora, commonly known as volute Diadem, is a very large marine snail, a mollusk of the family Volutidae, volutes. This large shell has a bulbous or nearly oval outline. The columella features three easily recognizable oblique folds. The aperture is wide and almost as long as the shell itself, and it lacks a operculum. It has a very large, swollen, and posteriorly expanded body whorl. One of its most striking features is the arm with prominent, curved, hollow spines. These spines become less pronounced in later growth stages. The siphon is usually very short. It is said that the color of the Melo ampfhora shell is highly variable. It is typically brown, white, or light orange, often with darker brown spiral bands. The interior is glazed, most often in cream or pinkish-orange. Dimensions: 95/125/210mm. Highly recommended for collectors and interior decorators.
