Description from the seller
Crystal receiver (Radio)
Model: Detefon DT2
Design: Państwowa Wytwórnia Łączności (PWŁ) / Telpod
Country of origin: Poland
Period: Design 1929 (This model 'DT2' is likely the post-war production from around 1946-1955)
Material of the housing: Bakelite.
Dimensions: Approximately 15 x 10 x 9 cm
A fine example of the Detefon, the most famous Polish crystal receiver. This device was originally designed in 1929 by engineers Wilhelm Rotkiewicz and Czesław Rajski at the PWŁ state factory in Warsaw.
This specific example is the DT2 type. Although the design is identical to the pre-war models, the type designation DT2 usually indicates production resumed after World War II by the Telpod factory (T-7) in Krakow, using the original molds.
The back panel is a true work of art in itself; it displays a clear diagram for the user.
- Band selection: Clear instructions for the knob position ("POŁOŻENIE GAŁKI") for three frequency ranges: 200-400m, 300-700m, and 1200-1700m (Long, Medium, and Short wave).
- Connection diagram: A graphical representation of how the antenna (A) and ground (Z) should be connected.
The object is complete and in good condition. The bakelite housing has a nice shine. The glass detector tube is intact. The back panel is still very legible. The metal parts show slight oxidation consistent with age. Operation has not been tested.
