Didier Carré is a former assistant to the official photographer of the French National Opera in Paris. He is a professional photographer whose books include Come Closer, High Voltage Erotica, Sexy Games, and Stainless Ladies. Didier Carré's passion for photographing women led him to focus on his models at the very center of his research. They are proud to show aspects of themselves not seen anywhere else, and after visiting his galleries, the perception of so-called 'cover-girls' will be changed forever.
Nearly 10 years have passed since Stainless Ladies, my first volume of photographs, was published, and it’s been about 30 years since I took my first black-and-white photographs back in 1983. This time, my fourth volume features results that are more realistic and less dreamlike; closer to a rougher, more raw reality. My models are indecent and cheeky all at once; they embody a subtle yet captivating blend of fragility and strength. They reveal nothing: do you want to see their sex? No problem, you will! As the observer, you won’t be able to resist getting involved. At first, their total lack of shame shocks you, but then it casts an irresistible spell. And although we know this is a game of image and illusion, you may want to hate them, but they remain out of reach. In this game, the roles of hunter and prey have been reversed, which is the unsettling part, isn’t it? When you reach the end and wake up in the last few pages, you’ll wonder whether it was all just a dream, or perhaps even a nightmare. If the next thing you hear is a gentle giggle, it must be the girls, who can slip off their panties so quickly that no camera can catch them! And so, now we bid you farewell, I and my accomplices, great experts in the art of sweet torment.
