Description from the seller

Immaculate Conception of Mary – plaster – France – first half of the 20th century

Professionally shipped – more than 850 five-star reviews worldwide.

Impressive plaster statue of Mary, rendered in a soft white-beige shade with a striking spotted cloak. Mary wears a floral crown and stands, exalted above the earthly, on a spherical base that represents the world, while the snake winding around it embodies the grip of evil on humanity. In her protective and purifying role, she tramples the snake, a reference to her victory over original sin and her place in the world's redemption, as depicted in the iconography of the Immaculate Conception.

Height 75 cm, in a well-worn condition. The paint shows pronounced craquelure and flaking, giving the piece a lived-in appearance. The hands are missing, but the pose remains recognizable and subdued. The paint has been stabilized with a protective varnish coating. There is light damage to the base.

Please look at the photos carefully, they are part of the description.

Sent with track & trace.
