Description from the seller
Complete set for 6 persons of soup cups and saucers with rose knob lid and handles, extremely rare on the market, part of “Rothschild Bird“ Collection, produced by Herend around ‘70, well known hand painted pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered insects, in pristine condition.
This is an exquisite set, in excellent condition, made by Herend - Hungary, in order to dress up sophisticated dining tables for special meals. Actual production of soup cups does not regularly include anymore the rose knob lid, but as special request only.
This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain.
Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence.
Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
The cups and saucers pristine condition, Like New-Never Used, with all rose buds in perfect condition, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs.
