Splendid double bedspread in cotton brocade, piqué loom weaving.
Piqué weaving is a process that creates fabrics with raised patterns, achieved through a special weave that uses a double weft or raised threads. It is obtained by creating a textured structure through a two-weft weave that gives the fabric thickness and a tactile, material appearance. Dimensions, to be precise, are 198 cm long and 184 cm wide, with an 8 cm fringe made from double cotton to be added.
Nice to use with a solid-color bedspread that goes down to the floor, and on top of that.
A bedspread unlike the usual ones, since it's all handmade.
In the center a rectangular rosette with four sides adorned with stitched flowers, and a decoration that echoes the floral motif on the three sides that descend down the sides and on the band that covers the cushion.
It's all one big embroidery, and this gives the object its particular value. In this part, the flowers are denser and smaller.
The flower embroidery is on all parts, including the corners, while on the straight side of the cushion there is a line of diamonds.
It has always been used with the utmost care and joins my family's bedspread set, which I am selling due to its multiplicity.
Even though it is a bedspread over a century old, it shows no signs or stains, except those of time.
