Description from the seller

Fossil tooth belonging to the gigantic prehistoric shark Otodus megalodon, the most imposing marine species ever existed. This tooth measures 120 mm in length and was found along the coast of North Carolina, one of the most renowned sites for recovering well-preserved remains of megalodon. The surface has been polished, highlighting the veins and the chromatic transitions between the root and enamel.
The Megalodon lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago, during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs, reaching estimated lengths of up to 20 meters. Its triangular, serrated, and robust teeth were designed to break the bones of whales and large cetaceans, which it fed on. These teeth were arranged in five rows and were continuously replaced throughout the animal's life.
This tooth features a compact and well-preserved root, with partially intact enamel and areas of mineralization that tell the story of fossilization. The polishing highlights its shades of black, gray, and touches of brown, making it perfect for museum display as well as private collections or cabinets of curiosities.
