Pair of Tsogo ritual sculptures from Gabon. - Tsogo - Gabon

A rare pair of anthropomorphic sculptures attributable to the Tsogo group of Gabon, made of hardwood with original traces of white and red pigments.
The figures display the typical elongated frontal posture, with faces featuring half-closed eyes and prominent features, a block-like upper structure reminiscent of architectural elements or ritual support used in places of worship, likely in contexts related to the Bwiti tradition.
The strong surface wear, antique patina, and partial loss of pigments suggest a prolonged period of use.
Particularly interesting opera because it is presented in a pair, a condition that is not always common and sought after by collectors.
Material: wood, with natural pigments.
It comes from a private collection and has been passed from one owner to another since 1980.
