Historic Note
This very special Maybach DSH is in unrestored, original condition. In the difficult post-World War II period, this once proud and prestigious vehicle was converted into a mobile sawmill to earn a living. This luxury car, "misused" as a utility vehicle, is a 1935 Maybach DSH, of which only 50 were ever built. When new, the car cost the then exorbitant sum of 25,000 Reichsmarks. Powered by a 5.1-liter, 130-horsepower, 6-cylinder engine, it once reached a top speed of 135 km/h. Until 1986, it was owned by Mr. Georg Ewald, who continued to work with the sawmill well into his old age. In his will, he stipulated that he bequeath the sawmill to the museum so that it would be preserved in its original condition and not restored.
