Description from the seller
Martell story,
In the 18th century, the first shipments of Martell cognacs were destined for England and Northern Europe. Thanks to the strong commercial network established by the Martell family and the House's excellent reputation, exports reached India in 1781 and the American coast in 1783. From 1814 onward, the House of Martell strengthened the presence of its agents worldwide. This strategy allowed for the expansion of exports to South America from 1817, Africa from 1848, and Asia from 1858.
The exacting standards applied to the selection of eaux-de-vie and the production of its cognacs have allowed Maison Martell to acquire a worldwide reputation among connoisseurs. At the turn of the 20th century, with the rise of tourism, the House was sought after by the most prestigious shipping, airline, and railway companies, which competed to offer their privileged clients the experience they desired during their travels. Thus, Martell Cordon Bleu, created in 1912, was served aboard the Queen Mary, the Orient Express, and the Concorde. Throughout its history, Maison Martell has also been associated with significant events such as the signing of the Armistice of the First World War on November 11, 1918, the polar expeditions of Paul-Émile Victor
