Ancient Roman bronze prutah minted in Judaea, struck by the Procurator Antonius Felix under Claudius (Jerusalem mint), with the obverse legend IOY-ΛIA AΓ-ΡIΠΠI-NA and the reverse with two crossed palm branches and date LIΔ (AD 54); diameter about 1.7 cm, weight 2.73 g, in Good condition, provenance from a private collection (acquired 1990) with previous owner from a private collection (acquired 1970s).
Description from the seller
An ancient bronze coin, minted in Judaea, and known as a prutah. Jerusalem mint. It was struck by the Roman Procurator Antonius Felix under Emperor Claudius. The obverse features the legend IOY-ΛIA AΓ-ΡIΠΠI-NA in four lines within a laurel wreath. The reverse features two crossed palm branches, with the date LIΔ (Year 14 = AD 54) below, surrounded by the legend [ΤΙ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟϹ ΚΑΙ]ϹΑΡ Γ[ЄΡΜ].

Provenance: Ex Cambridgeshire private collection, acquired 1970s.
