Two circa 1900 candelabras in gilded bronze and red marble, amphora form in a Louis XVI neoclassical style, showcasing refined craftsmanship and stately presence for elegant interiors.
Description from the seller
These two candelabra from circa 1900 are a magnificent expression of the decorative taste of the Napoleon III period, inspired by the Louis XVI style. Made of gilded bronze and red marble, they feature an amphora-shaped structure, giving them a sculptural and classical presence, evoking Greco-Roman aesthetics reinterpreted by French neoclassicism.
Each piece stands on a square base with ornamental details, where red marble—probably griotte or rosso antico—provides a warm, luxurious contrast to the gold of the metal. The central body, shaped like an amphora, is decorated with garlands, mascarons, and vegetal reliefs, elements typical of the Louis XVI repertoire but treated with the eclecticism and opulence characteristic of the Second Empire.
The four arms of light gracefully curve from the top, finished with finely chiseled candelabra cups. The central arm rises slightly, creating a pyramidal effect that enhances the symmetry and visual balance of the entire piece.
These pieces served not only as sources of illumination but also as symbols of status and refinement, intended for aristocratic or bourgeois salons where decorative art was an essential part of the furniture. Their artisanal quality, richness of materials, and stylistic fidelity make them outstanding examples of 19th-century French luxury.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
