Description from the seller
Reliquary containing a rare relic (see text) of Saint Charles Borromeo – Italy, 18th–19th century.
Antique Catholic reliquary made of cardboard/gilded stone, in the shape of a baroque radiant.
In the center is a circular glass medallion decorated with paper filigree and gold paper stars, containing a relic of Saint Charles Borromeo (San Carlo Borromeo, 1538–1584), Cardinal and Archbishop of Milan and Saint Major of the Counter-Reformation, canonized in 1610.
The handwritten label clearly states: 'Ex pœn. S. Caroli,' indicating a relic taken from his penitential garments.
Good condition with slight cracking of the gilding, small gaps, but the relic is perfectly preserved under its original glass.
An object of great rarity and beautiful authenticity, likely originating from a Lombard oratory or altarpiece.
Photos are an integral part of the description of the objects and complement their presentation. They allow you to assess their condition and characteristics. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.
The object will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
