Description from the seller
Signed handwritten letter by Léo Delibes. Written in brown ink on a double sheet of laid paper.
The composer writes to a close collaborator regarding a finale to be urgently reworked. Delibes immediately organizes two days of intensive work to get the piece back on its feet.
Dear friend
I'm replying to you hastily while the postman is still here, so that you can have this word tomorrow Sunday. Without this, you would only get it on Monday. What strikes me most is that you haven't made a copy of the thing, and I need to send it back to you as soon as possible. Without that, we can't do anything. [...] Now, here is what I believe is the best course of action. I ask you, as seriously as possible, to do your literary review work tomorrow Sunday so that you can reserve your entire Monday. I will leave first thing in the morning and will arrive at your place for lunch. We will spend a large part of the day together studying this final. I will also stay on Tuesday, but it is essential that I take the piece made when I return here. [...] I just went through this final; the movement seems perfect to me, some verses are charming, but the piece is not at all on its feet. We now need to work, and we have excellent elements for that.
A thousand affectionate things for your wife and you, see you on Monday at 11 o'clock.
Dimensions: 10.4 x 13.4 cm
Condition: Good condition. See photos for more details.
Number of pages: 3 pages
