Set of five religious bas-reliefs – Italy, 19th century
Set of five oval and one round blackened wood frames, each containing a finely carved bas-relief depicting religious scenes: Crucifixion, Pietà, Christ of Sorrows, Nativity, and Guardian Angel.
Two of the reliefs bear the signature Marie or D. Marie, sculptor active in the first half of the 19th century, known for his delicate religious compositions.
