Fire opal in rough multicolor form, 56.5 ct, from Welo, Ethiopia.
Description from the seller
From my personal collection #Opalwanted, I present this exceptional jewel: a 56.5-carat rough Welo fire opal, with a chromatic intensity that seems to ignite from within the stone.
This specimen of natural crystal opal, originating from Ethiopia's volcanic lands, displays a striking fire with flashes of red, orange, green, and yellow that dance across its surface. Still partially wrapped in its original matrix, it retains the authenticity of an unaltered gem, ready to be admired or transformed into a unique high jewelry piece.
A hard-to-find stone, ideal for discerning collectors or designers seeking natural beauty, geological character, and a visual energy that does not go unnoticed.
Color scheme: multicolored, with a clear presence of red (the most valued), electric green, deep blue, and shades of purple.
- State: Uncut and unpolished, which reinforces its authenticity and natural origin.
Wet condition: The images were taken with the opal slightly wet to highlight its true color.
Measurements: 34 × 19 × 16 mm
Weight: 56.5 Ct
Fire opal – The spark of the gods
This raw opal is not just a gemstone: it is a fragment of myth, a relic born from the crucible where the gods fused light, earth, and fire. It is said that when Zeus cast his lightning over the mountains of Ethiopia, the rock shattered and from its interior emerged this petrified fire, trapped in crystal by Gaia's will.
Its flashes of red, green, blue, and orange are not colors: they are memories of celestial battles, divine pacts, and forgotten dreams. Still wrapped in its natural matrix, this opal retains the texture of primal chaos, as if it were a tear of Hephaestus, fallen while forging the thrones of Olympus.
A stone that is not carved: it is honored. A talisman for those seeking beauty, power, and connection with the eternal. Only the worthy can bear the fire that once illuminated the skies.
