NO RESERVE -N.M. Thune - Oslo - Candlestick (2) - .835 silver - Kandelaar Art deco

A Norwegian Art Deco Silver Pair of Candlesticks:
Each of stepped, geometric form in solid 830-standard silver, embodying the clean lines and architectural symmetry characteristic of the Art Deco movement. Black bakelite underneath.

Made by N.M. Thune (That refers to David-Andersen Thune, a Norwegian silversmith and jeweller. Full name of the firm is J. Tostrup Thune / Jacob Tostrup Thune, but most pieces are simply stamped “THUNE”.
Founded in Oslo.

Active throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries, producing fine silver, jewelry, and decorative Art Deco / Modernist silverware. They are one of Norway’s best-known silversmiths, often compared to David Andersen or Georg Jensen (Denmark).

Fully Norway hallmarked for “830S”, this mark indicates 830/1000 silver purity.
(In 1892, silver fineness was standardized at .830 and the mark 830S became compulsory. In 1920, standard .925 started to replace .830 purity, therefore it has been made between 1892 and 1920.

The dimensions of this fine pair of hand-made silver candlesticks are:
Length 6.0 cm
Wide at base 8.5 x 8.5 cm
Approx. 202 + 208 = 410 grams (Bruto weight; filled for balance, weighted with materials other than silver).

Condition: Very good condition! Couple of tiny indentations and small dents here and there.
