Aphrodite's Head.
Ancient Greek, Hellenism, ca. 3rd century BC.
Marble.
9.5 cm height and 18.5 cm with the stand.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, France. Acquired before the 1970's.
CONDITION: Good condition.
DESCRIPTION:
Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and desire. She was one of the most important and widely worshipped deities in ancient Greece. Known for her stunning beauty and enchanting presence, she symbolized attraction, fertility, and romantic love. Aphrodite was often depicted in art and sculpture as a graceful and alluring figure. She played a key role in many myths and stories, representing both the power and complexity of love.
