Empire mahogany secretaire cabinet circa 1850 with fluted columns, bronze fittings and original interior, mahogany veneer over solid wood, height 140 cm, width 76 cm, depth 41 cm, lockable with four keys, in good condition with light signs of age, origin likely the Netherlands or Northern France.

Very beautiful Empire mahogany secretary – approx. 1850 – with columns, bronze fittings, and original interior.
Splendid empire / late empire mahogany secretary desk with a falling writing surface and multiple drawers and compartments.
The furniture is characterized by the elegant flaming mahogany veneer, solid wooden columns with original cast bronze capitals and feet, and finely detailed drawer knobs and keyplates.
The interior is equipped with various small drawers, a lockable cabinet, and mail compartments. The writing surface opens solidly and lies flat and stable. The green writing surface is neat and can easily be replaced if desired.
Condition / state
In beautiful, well-maintained condition with light signs of aging appropriate for its age (about 170 years).
All drawers slide well, locking mechanism present and functional. No woodworm. Including 4 keys.
Origin: probably the Netherlands or Northern France, circa 1840–1860.
Material: mahogany (veneered on solid), bronze fittings.
Pickup is strongly recommended due to size and weight.
