Pier Paolo Pasolini, a 200-page hardcover photography book by Dino Pedriali in Italian, first edition (2011) published in Rome by Johan & Levi editors, signed by the artist; original language Italian; condition Comme neuf.
Description from the seller
Currently unavailable on the Internet (even in unsigned copies), this very rare copy is exceptionally signed by Dino Pedriali, with the signature accompanied by a red fingerprint of the artist as a dry stamp. This volume pays photographic tribute to the poet, novelist, and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975), whose centenary of birth was commemorated in 2022. The copy is in perfect condition, as new.
Dino Pedriali (born in 1950) is considered the Caravaggio of photography, and he has published various books on male nudes as well as photographic tribute volumes on Man Ray and Andy Warhol in particular.
He photographed Pier Paolo Pasolini here in 1975, a few days before his disappearance, in the house he had built in Chia near Viterbe and Bomarzo; inside the house and also from outside through the glazing, which gives a pictorialist aspect to some of the photographs. Pasolini was then 53 years old and had asked the young Dino Pedriali, who was only 25, to photograph him nude to accompany the text of a novel he was writing at the time. We also see Pasolini at the typewriter (personal computers did not exist at the time), or engaged in proofreading and editing manuscripts, or even drawing on large sheets spread on the ground.
The photographs of Pier Paolo Pasolini naked by Dino Pedriali led to a publication in Amsterdam in 1989 titled 'Pier Paolo Pasolini, Testament of the Body', which is listed without 'The Book of Nudes' by Alessandro Bertolotti, p. 240.
