Gouda Plateel Ivora Art Deco ceramic vase from Gouda, Netherlands, dating to December 1920, 32 cm wide, 32 cm deep, 32 cm diameter, 25 cm high, 3 kg, in good used condition with a small hairline crack on the underside of the base.
Description from the seller
This beautiful example of Dutch Art Deco pottery (Gouda Plateel) was produced by the Plateelbakkerij Ivora (Ivora Pottery Factory) in Gouda, Netherlands. Ivora was one of the smaller Gouda factories. They were known for producing Art Nouveau and later Art Deco style pottery, often with a high-gloss glaze in their early period, which aligns with your piece.
The markings on the base read 118. IVORA. GOUDA. DeciMAT. 20. The term DeciMAT. 20. is part of the monthly/yearly dating system used by Gouda factories in the 1918-1921 period, which confirms this vase's age as December 1920. 118 refers to the model number.
The vase features the characteristic matte glaze finish popular in the 1920s. It is hand-painted in earthy tones, typical of the period.
Good condition: The vase displays well with fresh colors. There are no chips, no flaking, and no restoration. There is a tight hairline crack running across the underside of the base (see photos). This appears to be a "blind" hairline (likely a cooling tension line or "dunt"), as it is not visible on the interior of the vase and does not compromise the structural integrity of the piece.
The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured post with a track and trace number. It van also be collected from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
