Description from the seller
Gorgeous Bright-Coloured Jade Stone Celt – 18th Century, North Coast of New Guinea (Papua)
A superb ceremonial jade celt from the north coast of New Guinea, dating from the 18th century. Finely shaped and beautifully polished, the piece displays a strikingly bright green hue with natural translucence and smooth, lustrous surfaces — hallmarks of the finest old jade.
Such celts were highly valued prestige items, used in ritual exchange and symbolic ceremonies rather than for practical use. The exceptional craftsmanship and vibrant colour suggest it once belonged to a person of rank or spiritual importance.

A must have for collectors, ethnographers, ethnologists, anthropologists and museums
