Byzantine bronze cross pendant named Kreuzanhänger 5 Wunden Christi, dating to the 5th–8th century CE, measuring 35 × 22 mm in very good condition with an intact suspension loop, depicting five circles symbolising the Five Wounds of Christ; no shipping outside the European Union.
Description from the seller
A very well-preserved bronze cross pendant from the Byzantine period. The front features five circles symbolizing the five wounds of Christ. The arms of the cross widen towards the outside. There is a loop at the top of the arm. The pendant is larger than most similar examples of this type (see also the reference objects below).
Dating: 5th-8th century AD
Origin: Byzantine Empire
Material: Bronze, cast
Condition: Very good; eyelet intact. Sinter residue, as seen in the photos.
Dimensions: 35 mm (with eyelet) x 22 mm; 4 grams
Provenance: German auction house. A copy of the invoice from the auction house where the object was acquired in 2025 will be provided to the buyer.
