Description from the seller
Set of Vintage Agricultural Engineering Lantern Slides – Ilford Glass Plates – c.1940s–1950s – Diagrams & Machinery Photos – With Original Box
A fascinating set of mid-20th-century lantern slides on the theme of agricultural engineering, housed in their original Ilford “Special Lantern Plates – Contrasty” box. The collection consists of glass slides mounted in black paper frames, each numbered and containing either technical diagrams or photographic views of farming machinery and equipment.
The slides date from around the 1940s to 1950s, a period when lantern slides were still widely used in technical colleges and agricultural training institutions. They include detailed diagrams of ploughs, crop mechanisms, grain boxes and machine components, along with field photographs showing tractors and harvesting machinery in operation. The drawings are clearly labelled and appear to be educational teaching aids.
The slides are in very good condition for their age. The images remain clear with strong contrast, and the mounts show only minor handling wear. All plates are intact with no cracks. The original Ilford box displays typical age-related wear but remains solid and protective.
This is a rare and appealing educational set, ideal for collectors of agricultural history, vintage photography, engineering ephemera or early technical teaching materials. They also display beautifully when backlit.
Will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracking.
