A fine rare incoming diplomatic mail to Messrs. Melchers & Company , the care of US Consulate in Canton China by 1907 US 2cents red prepaid cover posted from Seattle R.P.O.(Railway Post Office) ,per steamship “S.S. Korea”from San Francisco to Canton city and Shameen, China in 1914.

-Marked : Per SS “Korea” from S.F.
-bearing double franking 2cents stamps with cancellations of Seattle RPO
-transit and back stamps of Canton & Shameen on back

On West Coast USA-Asia route, broke speed record for crossing w/sister SIBERIA 1902-15. Labor laws forced sail to Atlantic Transport Co. in 1915. Sold to Japanese TKK Line and renamed KOREA MARU and served their routes until 1926, then sold to NYK, retaining name and Far East-W. Coast USA itineraries. Finally scrapped in 1935.
