Heinrich Handwerck - Simon & Halbig - Figure - Biscuit porcelain

This 45 cm tall doll, circa 1855, was manufactured in Germany with the bisque head by Simon & Halbig and the entire doll was sold by Heinrich Handwerck. It bears the number "1" at the bottom of the neck. The doll is in good condition with the original ball-jointed body that retains its excellent original finish, including traces of red paint indicating the fingernails and toenails, as well as the red stamp "HANDWERCK" on the back of the upper hips. The bisque head is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or repairs. There are original glue marks from the wig. It has an open mouth with upper teeth, pierced ears, and large blue glass sleep eyes with the original eyelid finish. The doll wears its original clothing: antique white cotton underwear and a pink silk dress, stockings, and black shoes. The clothing shows signs of age spots.
