Description from the seller

Antique Dha from Myanmar – Mid-20th century – With metal sheath, 55 cm

Description:
This beautiful traditional sword, known as a Dha, originates from Myanmar and dates back to the mid-20th century (circa 1940–1960). The Dha is known for its elegant, minimalist shape without a guard, and is used both functionally and ceremonially. This example is approximately 55 cm long and comes with a richly decorated metal scabbard. The handle and scabbard feature traditional engravings typical of the region and period. These decorations not only give the sword aesthetic value but also a cultural and historical dimension.

Condition: In good condition with normal signs of age and use, appropriate for its age.

Origin: Collected in Myanmar and likely originating from the Mandalay region, where this type of Dha was often produced in the mid-20th century.

Why is it special? This sword is a beautiful example of Burmese craftsmanship and a valuable addition for any collector of Southeast Asian weapons. It combines history, art, and craftsmanship.
