Description from the seller
Set of 12 Alfénide dessert knives by Christofle, pompadour model, in silver-plated metal.
Length: 20.5 cm
Beautiful shine
Sold without the presentation box.
The Alfénide manufacturing was acquired in 1880 by Christofle and named 'Gallia Silverware'.
A goldsmith's hallmark was registered in 1908, with the Alfénide silver guarantee mark. This mark features a goat's head within a lozenge inscribed in a square, similar to that of the widow Charles Halphen, a goldsmith inscribed on March 17, 1877.
Christofle is a French goldsmithing and table arts company, founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle.
The company is known for having introduced electrolytic gilding and silver plating in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group of the Chalhoub family.
Christofle relies on entirely handcrafted production using traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning and repoussé, planishing, chasing, and engraving, perpetuated by its Master Goldsmiths and Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsmen of France), immortalize the elegance and excellence of every Christofle piece. This irreplaceable human expertise is preserved by highly skilled artisans.
