Description from the seller
Pair of bone Roman dice, 11mm wide.
These dice are hand-carved from genuine bone and generally date from the Roman Empire, between the 1st and 4th centuries AD.
The Romans used dice, known by the Latin name tesserae, not only for entertainment but also for gambling and divination.
Each face is incised with circles, composed of a large outer ring and a small central circle, filled with black paint.
They are generally smaller than modern dice, measuring about 10 to 12 mm on each side.
