Rare Etruscan Votive Heart

Description:
Terracotta anatomical votive representing a human heart, modeled in full volume with conical lower apex and rounded shoulders. The upper portion shows a narrow circular cavity typical of votive hearts rather than functional vessels. Crafted in coarse reddish clay with natural inclusions and surface patina from ancient burial. Such votive hearts were dedicated in healing sanctuaries to deities of life and health, symbolizing prayers for vitality, affections, or cardiovascular healing.

Dimensions: Height 95 mm; Diameter 70 mm.

Condition:
Stable with minor surface crack and ancient mineral accretions; no restoration.

Provenance:
Belgian Private colletion, acquired before the 1970s.
