Description from the seller

Rare 19th Century Rauenstein Porcelain Teapot - Strohblumenmuster Pattern - Germany, 1850-1897

A beautiful antique teapot from the renowned Rauenstein porcelain manufactory in Thuringia, Germany. This piece dates from 1850-1897, during the golden age of the Greiner-Georgii family ownership.

The Rauenstein factory was founded in 1783 by the Greiner brothers under patronage of Duke George of Saxony-Meiningen. By 1881, under Franklyn Georgii's management, the factory reached its peak before closing in 1929. This teapot bears the distinctive "R-n" penned mark with crossed lines - a marking that was controversially withdrawn in 1897 following complaints from Meissen about its similarity to their famous crossed swords trademark.

PATTERN & DECORATION:
Classic Strohblumenmuster (Straw Flower) pattern featuring hand-painted cobalt blue floral sprigs on the characteristic vertically-ribbed body. The design includes delicate blue flowers, graceful vining stems, and traditional concentric circle borders. Complete with matching domed lid and ball finial.

CONDITION:
Good antique condition with normal signs of age appropriate for a 140-175 year old piece:
- Complete with original matching lid
- No chips, cracks, or visible repairs
- Hand-painted decoration well-preserved with good color
- Clear maker's mark visible on base
- Minor age-related discoloration
- Glazing intact throughout

PROVENANCE:
Private European collection

A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic piece of 19th-century German Thuringian porcelain from one of the region's most historic manufactories. Perfect for collectors of German porcelain, blue and white ceramics, or antique tea services.
