Description from the seller
The Fiat 500 is an icon of automotive design. The F model was produced in approximately 2.2 million units from 1965 to 1972, including the Lusso version and the sought-after '8 Bulloni,' of which I have attached a photo of the original badge below.
In this lot, I offer the first and only prototype I created in 1:10 scale in 2024 of the Fiat 500 F from 1965, printed in 3D and composed of 64 parts. This new model has never been displayed and is kept indoors in my studio as a feasibility sample. The materials used contain 30% wood, are eco-friendly, durable, and the color is natural, unpainted. Both the appearance and the scent evoke the old techniques of coachbuilders used in the creation of 1:5 scale study models.
Intentionally, I wanted to create a model that only reintroduced part of the old technique used by bodywork craftsmen at the time, avoiding subsequent filling between sections, puttying, and painting of the model.
The model's interior is hollow to also represent the front compartment, the cabin (with the central section of the glove box, gear lever, handbrake, and rear seat), and the engine compartment. The three compartments are separated by closed sections to simulate the front divider and the rear firewall. I used transverse sections with a 10 mm spacing, 3D printed with a rough finish to maintain a resemblance to plywood models; the front and rear are instead solid portions of the bodywork.
To make the object suitable for decorative use in any interior design, I removed some of the longitudinal sections to highlight only the main lines of the vehicle and, with changing light, to enhance the 'play of light and shadow'.
The models were designed with a 3D CAD and 3D printed, then corrected in 3D and reprinted, each pre-assembled, disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled using glue to increase strength, all crafted manually in an artisanal manner.
The set of these phases required a long intellectual and manual effort, always supported by the conviction of creating a car model that would be recognizable even to less experienced observers.
Model weight is 260 g. There is no original packaging; for shipping, express and insured, a double cardboard box and additional internal protections are used.
