Description from the seller
Rare signed edition by Lucien Clergue of a beautifully illustrated book, enriched with a reproduction of the original Picasso artwork specially drawn for Lucien Clergue and pasted on the front cover.
This 1969 edition published by Seghers presented here includes unpublished photographs, with 15 photographs printed on photographic paper and mounted, including 3 others reproduced on double pages. It is the most beautiful edition of Corps mémorable due to its folio format and sewn signatures, its sturdy cloth binding, and also the most complete (18 photographs compared to 12 in the smaller 1957 in-8 edition, which was much less sturdy and resistant with its glued pages that often come apart and its soft cover).
"This young body offered on the beach to the caress of the waves renewed my zest for life." The uncontrolled movement of the waves destabilizes the female bodies it photographs, and Lucien Clergue demonstrates a particularly remarkable artistic mastery here.
Solid blue cloth editor's binding with embossed white lettering, endpapers at the beginning and end of the book consisting of photographic reproductions pasted in, illustrated dust jacket.
Perfect condition copy over 55 years after publication! Book from my personal collection, kept with the utmost care. Protected shipping with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international tracking. For multiple purchases, combined shipping is possible with a refund of any overpaid postal fees via Paypal.
