Description from the seller
For almost two decades, Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real patiently awaits bottling and release onto the market.
Cardenal Mendoza: brandy for a royal occasion
Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real is a Solera Gran Reserva brandy with an average age of twenty-five years, aged in old Oloroso casks with a lower predominance of Pedro Ximénez.
In 1981, on the occasion of our winery's bicentennial and with our eyes set on the new century, a reserve of Cardenal Mendoza was set aside to commemorate the arrival of the new millennium. For almost two decades, Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real waited patiently to be bottled and released onto the market. We use the "surname" Carta Real to commemorate a dinner at which Sánchez Romate wines and brandy were served at the Royal Palace in Madrid on 2 December 1900.
At that time, Juan Manuel Sánchez y Gutiérrez de Castro, owner of the winery, was Minister to King Alfonso XII, who awarded him the title of Duke of Algeciras for his successful services in organising the International Conference of Algeciras in 1906.
Tasting Notes: Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real
Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real: a unique brandy with an elegant aroma of old wood with hints of sweet raisins and plums, as well as a perfectly rounded, smooth and lasting taste, making up exceptional characteristics that time has softened and enhanced.
Appearance of radiant old mahogany.
