Tivoli Danish teak sculpture of a wooden troll, dated 19 July 1962, with an integrated bottle opener and a hidden corkscrew, bearing the Tivoli plaque and measuring 23 cm high, 12 cm wide, 5 cm deep and weighing 219 g.
Description from the seller
Rare Danish wooden troll – with bottle opener and internal corkscrew – Tivoli 19/7 1962 – Scandinavian mid-century design
A special and multifunctional piece of Danish design from the early sixties: an original wooden troll with an integrated bottle opener and a hidden corkscrew in the foot. This playful yet practical mid-century object also bears an authentic Tivoli plaque, engraved with the date July 19, 1962, including hallmarks.
These figures were originally handcrafted in limited editions for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, where they served as luxury souvenirs or prizes at skill games. The combination of humorous Danish wood design and functional metal parts made them popular among visitors — but today they have become rare, especially with original dating and plaque.
Design & Equipment
Solid wood sculptural troll
Large expressive ears
Inserted eyes
Original 1960s coat
Rope detail on the side
Bottle opener integrated at the top.
Retractable corkscrew hidden in the foot.
Original metal/silver Tivoli plaque (TIVOLI 19/7 1962 + inspection marks)
A splendid example of Scandinavian design where playfulness, functionality, and craftsmanship come together.
Condition
Good condition for its age (1962).
Wooden surface well preserved, original details present, bottle opener and corkscrew functional. Plate clearly legible.
Dimensions: H 23 cm x W 12 cm x D 5 cm
Weight: 219 grams
This object is over 60 years old and possesses a beauty of imperfection: authentic vintage with patina, character, and a story. Carefully selected. It will be safely packed, sent via registered mail, and insured.
