Intricately hand-carved chess and backgammon combination game from Southeast Asia (Thailand / Myanmar / Laos / Cambodia / Malaysia), dated around 1970.
The set features traditional figures with regional and mythological motifs. Each figure is individually carved from wood.
The game board is made as a portable wooden box, with the exterior crafted as a chessboard with inlays, and the interior as a backgammon board.
The game pieces are complete: one set in light and one in dark. The king pieces reach up to 17 cm in height, making the set particularly impressive.
