This coin marks the debut year of the 10-guilder type under King William III. The mintage at the time was 4,110,000. The unique feature of this year is that the year is placed above the coat of arms, unlike later issues where the year was engraved below the coat of arms. Furthermore, this variant, "Overslag 1875 over 1874," is extremely rare. It is likely a single, different mint die that was used.
