Description from the seller

Terracotta mother goddess in the style of Çatalhöyük, in present-day Turkey.
Neolithic, dating from around the 6th millennium BC.
It exhibits all the characteristics of these Anatolian goddesses, namely a protruding belly, callipygian buttocks, and heavy, sagging breasts. The head is topped with a cap.
11 x 6 x 5 cm.
I believe she represents a goddess of fertility, symbolizing the importance of reproduction and abundance in Neolithic societies.
Good condition, with no missing parts or restorations. Some concretions.

Private Belgian collection across multiple generations.
