Pair of handmade consoles in carved, gold‑gilded wood, in Baroque/Rococo style, dating from 1910–1920.
Description from the seller
Pair of consoles with antique-style carved and gilded wood decoration – Baroque/Rococo style.
Exceptional set of two decorative elements carved in solid wood, probably originating from Italy or France, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The pieces feature deeply worked carving, with volutes characteristic of late Baroque and Rococo influences, standing out for the richness of movement and the fluidity of the forms.
The finish retains its original polychromy, with gold leaf gilding and details in light green and burnt red, showcasing an antique patina, natural wear, and characteristic craquelure of age. These signs of age enhance the authenticity and decorative charm of the pieces.
They rest on equally wooden bases, framed with a wavy profile and gilded edges. These are versatile elements that can be used as decorative supports, console ornaments, scenic applications, or simply as standalone sculptural pieces.
Status:
Very good overall condition for the age, with minor wear and natural marks from use and time. No structural breaks are present.
Carved, polychromed, and gold leafed wood.
Approximate total weight: 1,225 kg per piece.
Period: circa 1880–1920.
Probable origin: Italy / France.
