Rhum Rhum Velier - Libération 2015 - 70cl

Rhum Liberation 2015 is the brand's third release after 2010 and 2012. The vintage refers to the year the rum was released, i.e. bottled, not distilled. It is an agricultural rum distilled in a water-bath still and aged in wine and bourbon barrels. It is the result of a collaboration between Giani Capovilla, a distiller of grappa and spirits, and Luca Gargano, the owner of the Genoese merchant Velier. Velier was founded by Casimir Chaix in Genoa in 1947. It is a small family business that imports and distributes wine and spirits. Luca Gargano, former representative of Saint James and a great rum lover and collector, bought it in 1986 and launched his trading business, first with whisky in 1992 and then with rum in 1996. The rums selected by Velier are unique in that they have only been aged in tropical climates, resulting in a considerable aromatic concentration and angel's share. He generally bottles them straight from the cask or with slight reductions. His selections from the Diamond cellars, his bottlings from Caroni and various Jamaican, Barbadian and other distilleries have made rum history and are now among the most sought-after bottlings in the category.
