Description from the seller
3.2 cm long x 3 cm wide Hemipristis Serra shark teeth.
This is a beautiful Hemipristis Serra teeth with solid fossilized profile with the root, body, serrations and the characteristic curve of the teeth. This teeth infact is all about its wonderful curvatures with the root, the body and even te serrations exhibiting unique curves. The serrations are very big and prominent relative to the teeth dimensions and this is also a core feature of Hemipristis teeth. For reference, the Hemipristis Serra teeth is shown on top of 15 cm long Megalodon teeth as well. Apart from size comparison, it is also symbolic of close association of Hemipristis Serra in the ecosystem where it thrived with the giant sharks like Otudus Megaladon and Otudus Chubutensis.
Hemipristis Serra itself was a large shark of snaggletooth shark family and potentially dangerous. It had length of almost 6 meters and it is suggested that it preyed on pups of Megaladon shark as well in the shallow waters. The Megalodon pups were not small either and were almost 6 feet at birth. The very curved and unique teeth of Hemipristis Serra would have been very helpful in gulping down the Megalodon pups whole.
The side of the root of the teeth have been professionally repaired after post excavation work. Please see photos for reference.
