A work in which one provides: an idea of Geometry, definitions of the geometric figures necessary for the study of Architecture; the formation of the Orders, rigorously demonstrated, in the origin of architecture; their general division; the particular proportions of each of them; the differences that characterize them; an easy method to draw them; the details of a Doric Order from Poeftum, measured by the author on-site; and finally, the necessary notions about the accessory Orders.
By C.M. Delagardette (1762-1805), Architect, Pensionnaire of the Republic - New edition. Completely redesigned and enriched with new plates, such as the Pantheon of Rome and its details, etc.

Giacomo or Jacopo Barozzi (known as da Vignola and in French Vignole), born in Vignola (Duchy of Modena) on October 1, 1507, and died in Rome on July 7, 1573, was an Italian architect and a theorist of Renaissance architecture. He succeeded Michelangelo as the architect of Saint Peter's.
