Description from the seller
Kris keris antique handle and a book about kris handles.
Antique Tumenggunan carving unmistakably from Madura.
Beautifully carved work, made with great craftsmanship. You can see all the details, such as the 'never ending knot' motif and the recognizable WW2 symbol at the base, which has a different meaning and background. A true eye-catcher.
With matching mendak.
Also included is a Krisgrepen book (Sendi = grips) by the renowned author Gaspard de Marval, an expert in the field of krisses and grips. In French language but with clear illustrations so that a language barrier should not be an issue. Published in 1993 - hand-numbered copy no. 17.
The swastika symbol is often used as a sign in various cultures worldwide and generally represents vitality and luck. It is one of the most sacred symbols in Hinduism and is also used in Buddhism.
In short: a beautiful addition to the collection of a (spoiled) collector.
Collector's item.
