Set of three traditional Burmese Yoke Thé puppets – demon figures and a prince, dating from the late 20th century, made of wood, lacquer and fabric with beads and sequins, provenance Privécollectie, in good vintage condition, height approx. 55–70 cm each.

Set of three traditional Burmese puppets (Yoke Thé) – demonic figures and princes.
Myanmar (Burma) – circa 1960–1980 – wood, lacquer, fabric, sequins
Very beautiful set of three large Burmese Yoke Thé puppets, traditionally used in the classical Burmese puppet theater.
This set includes two demons / ogres (Bilū or Nat-figures) and one courtly figure with a demon mask, all three richly decorated with embroidery, sequins, and beads.
The set consists of:
Green demon (Bilū)
Vivid hand-cut head, bright colors, teeth, and theatrical expression.
Dark green velvet costume with multicolored appliqué and sequins.
Noble figure / prince with a demonic-looking headpiece.
White, finely painted facial expression.
Full costume in red, purple, and gold, very richly executed.
Helmet with demon mask (typical for staged fight scenes).
Yellow bird-demon (possibly Galon or Hintha)
Mythical figure, special in puppet theater.
Hand-carved head with a beak-shaped mouth, bright green body, and golden-yellow crown.
Costume richly adorned with beads and sequins.
Features
Handcrafted wooden heads, hands, and feet.
Original rope construction largely present.
Intensive embroidery with sequins, metal wire, and glass stone decorations.
Very decorative presentation; rare characters in a single set.
