Description from the seller
Lotto 'Minerals of Tuscany' – Elbane brilliance, UV contrasts, and historic druses.
This elegant lot, weighing a total of 1062 grams, brings together six specimens from emblematic locations in Tuscany. A harmonious collection that pairs the brilliance of Capoliveri's andradite garnet with the classic iron-rich minerals of Elba, complemented by spectacular UV light responses in the aragonite stronzianifera–gypsum association and a prominent calcite geode.
The lot includes:
Garnet (andradite) – Calamita Mine, Capoliveri, Elba Island (LI)
Well-formed and sparkling crystals on a matrix, with high brightness and a confident stance: a classic Elba piece with strong aesthetic appeal.
• Aragonite stronzianifera and gypsum – Tuscany
Scenic association: under UV light, the plaster glows with a vivid blue/azure, while the aragonite rich in strontium displays an intense pink. A stark chromatic contrast, ideal for thematic UV collections.
• Pyrite with hematite – Valle Giove, Rio Marina, Elba Island (LI)
Geometric and shiny pyrite crystals set on lamellar hematite: the typical Elban ferriferous association, elegant and iconic.
Calcite – Toscana (geode)
Wide cavity lined with glass crystals: translucent to the point of 'seeing through it,' with a clean internal architecture and a great stage presence.
• Ematite – Island of Elba (LI)
Plates and lamellae with a mirror-like metallic appearance; deep reflections and surface regularity define a brilliant specimen with a strong character.
• Quarzo – area of Grosseto (GR)
A clear and well-proportioned specimen, with a well-defined prismatic suit and sharp finishes: sober elegance of Tuscan silica.
This lot brings together six selected specimens renowned for their balance, crystalline quality, and collectible interest: from the UV illuminations of the aragonite–gypsum association to the metallic geometries of Elba, up to the glassy purity of calcite and quartz, each piece tells an authentic fragment of Tuscan mineralogy.
Kire Minerals is proud to offer this exquisite lot, personally selected by Erik Lombini with his customary passion and expertise. Each specimen is the result of careful research and perfectly represents the beauty and diversity of Italian mineralogy.
