White datalite carpet on matrix from Sasso di Castro, Firenzuola, Tuscany, Italy.
Description from the seller
Whitest datolite carpet on matrix – Sasso di Castro, Firenzuola, Tuscany
This impressive specimen, originating from Sasso di Castro, is a magnificent example of datolite developed in a dense carpet of very white and shiny crystals that fully cover the matrix. With its dimensions of 119 × 99 × 91 mm and a total weight of 1868 grams, the specimen stands out for the compactness and brilliance of its crystalline surface.
Datolite appears in a multitude of translucent crystals, with a pure white color and a vitreous appearance that vividly reflect light, creating a sparkling and elegant effect. The uniformity of the coating makes the specimen particularly harmonious, highlighting the contrast between the whiteness of the crystals and the robustness of the underlying matrix.
From a geological perspective, Sasso di Castro is known for its hydrothermal mineralizations that have favored the formation of geodes and very rich coatings in datolite, often associated with other species. In this case, the absence of accessory minerals makes the specimen even more fascinating, allowing the datolite to be the absolute protagonist, pure and uncontaminated.
It is a sample of great elegance and grandeur, ideal for collectors who appreciate the understated refinement and the luminous beauty of datolite, one of the most characteristic and sought-after minerals from this Tuscan locality.
Kire Minerals is proud to present this splendid specimen, personally selected by Erik Lombini for its aesthetic and collectible value. Each specimen is born from careful selection, the result of years of experience and a genuine passion for mineralogy.
