Description from the seller
LALIQUE
Baguier Colombe with Wings Deployed
Symbol of Purity and Elegance with Crystal Wings
This Winged Dove Baguier is a work that testifies to the excellence and legacy of the LALIQUE House, heir to the genius of René LALIQUE (1860-1945) and continued under Marc Lalique after 1945. Far from being a simple accessory, the piece presents itself as a miniature sculpture of great prestige, magnifying the emblematic theme of the dove, a universal symbol of peace and love.
The central figure is that of a single dove captured in the delicate moment of takeoff, its wings widely spread, rising from the center of a circular dish that serves as the base for the ring holder (porte-anneaux). The design is part of the Répertoire Animalier et Symbolique of the brand, reminiscent of the famous bird motifs and perfume bottle caps.
The magic of the piece lies in the contrasting treatment of the solid, colorless crystal. The body of the dove and the meticulous relief of its feathers have been entirely finished with a satin and frosted (frosted) effect. This masterful finish gives the piece a matte, milky softness that subtly absorbs light and grants the bird an almost airy lightness.
On the other hand, the edge of the cup, the spout, and the wing edges are meticulously polished to a mirror shine. This play of shadows and light enhances the dynamic movement and anchors the piece within the sleek, graphic aesthetic of Art Deco.
It is a sought-after acquisition, perfect for the collector who seeks both the history of French high crystal and a decorative object with powerful and timeless symbolism. (It appears to have a small chip on the unbreakable beak.)
Images are part of the description. Rings not included. Insured shipping and relay point delivery.
