Description from the seller
Lotto 'Minerals of Emilia-Romagna' – spectacular UVs, beta quartz, and classics from San Clemente
This elegant lot, with a total weight of 1310 grams, brings together six specimens from emblematic locations in Emilia-Romagna. A harmonious collection that highlights the strong responses to ultraviolet light of calcites on septaria and gypsum, the dark aesthetics of beta quartz, and the sulfide mineralizations of San Clemente.
The lot includes:
Calcite – on septaria, Gaiano (PR)
Druse developed within the septa of a Parmense septarium, with marked UV fluorescence highlighting the fracture network of the mineralized veins: clear and dramatic lighting along the veins.
• Gesso (half 'petal') – Borgo Rivola, Riolo Terme (RA)
A typical thermal area specimen: under UV light, it shows a vivid blue-celeste with clearly visible internal ghosts, which give depth and movement to the lamina.
Calcite – detached internal crust of septaria, Bolognese area.
Portion of the cavity wallpaper of a septaria nodule, detached from the wall during/after crystallization: strong yellow → yellow-orange fluorescence that highlights the glassy surfaces.
Beta quartz with UV calcite 'petal' – Ca’ de Ladri.
Very aesthetic beta quartz, with well-formed crystals on a matrix. It features a 'petal' of calcite that glows intensely under UV light, creating a suggestive contrast with the dark tone of the quartz.
• Calcite – San Clemente, Monterenzio (BO), ophiolitic context
Specimen with beautiful transparency and brightness; under UV light, it shows a pink fluorescence with a slight greenish tint, a delicate but recognizable effect.
• Pirite – San Clemente, Monterenzio (BO)
Well-defined metallic crystals on a matrix, a classic in the industry: sharp geometries and mirror-like shine that create a strong visual impact.
This lot brings together six selected samples noted for their balance, crystalline quality, and collector interest: from UV illuminations of calcites and gypsum to the personality of beta quartz, up to the metallic forms of pyrite from San Clemente, each piece tells an authentic fragment of Emilian-Romagnol mineralogy.
Kire Minerals is proud to offer this exquisite lot, personally selected by Erik Lombini with his customary passion and expertise. Each specimen is the result of careful research and perfectly represents the beauty and diversity of Italian mineralogy.
